Quality Vs. Quantity….What’s Best For Our Kids?
For the past 4 months I’ve been fortunate enough to be working on a project that is near and dear to my heart, The Happy Box.
This joint venture took its first breath on New Year’s Day 2014. Enjoying an enormous breakfast at Norma’s in NYC the yummy food and family bonding time had us all dreaming of what could be. It didn’t take long before a vision started to form and the Happy Box Concept seamlessly came to life.
I am Linda and I have 2 grown children Jamila and Farris. I’ve been there and done that and have some strong opinions at this stage in my life. My partner Jumana, AKA my second daughter, is a young Mom to 3 year old Ayla, working in philanthropy and fully immersed in technology and social media in a way I will never be totally comfortable with!
We were amazed when we realized how similar our opinions, concerns and feelings were despite our age difference. Thinking back I’m not sure why we were so surprised, there are simply many universal truths that all parents recognize.
TIME is at the top of that list for many of us.
Not enough of it
Feeling as if we’re in a eternal “time crunch”
And the biggie Quality vs. Quantity
This last one has been a hot topic for decades, trust me I know firsthand!
OK, so I don’t know how to say this without sounding like a commercial so I’m just gonna say it. We created the Happy Box to help you have more quality time without the hassle.
I would have jumped at the opportunity to simply open up a box, select 1 activity from the many inside, and spend some 1 on 1 time with my kids. No planning no running around for ideas or supplies it’s all there. You simply smile, take a deep breath and enjoy some creative and educational time with your kiddies.
So, here I am in New Jersey scouting for amazing books, supplies and new and creative ideas to share with you all. My background as an educator has made this a fun and enjoyable adventure (if you remove shipping and customs headaches from the picture)!
Then we have Jumana living and working in Dubai and breathing life into our company. She’s designing our website, running our social media pages, handling all orders and spending her weekends at Ripe Market; with the community giving The Happy Box a real presence.
